When I first started creating an Online Class, oh my, little did I know! In 2009 the Internet was not (yet) prepared for online video but to me it was clear that I needed video to deliver the learnings. So I did screen recordings, uploaded them to my server to host them and... got blocked. The provider had forbidden to host videos because it takes more bandwidth than usual. Live and learn. For years to come I hosted the Safari Lounge in my forum and then hosted the videos on a specific platform for streaming. It worked but it was not ideal.

We had limited possibilities those days and my guess is that in a few years we will say the same about today's possibilities.
Still, online classes get more and more popular (remember the pandemic where we couldn't go anywhere but enjoyed watching videos online!) - last but not least giving you the opportunity to learn whenever you want and wherever you want!
Learning for each of us - no matter where you are, who you are, how old you are or what you enjoy doing! Image with friendly permission by sasint
What are Online Art Classes?
Teachers just like me offer online art classes over the internet to teach various art skills and techniques. Here at Digidesignresort they cover a wide range of topics, including painting, drawing, illustration, graphic design, and more. Online art classes are a convenient and accessible way for students to learn new skills and techniques, connect with other artists, and gain feedback and critique from instructors.
Another great thing is that I can teach you my way of "doing things" even if you are in Japan. Maybe we wouldn't ever have met at a "normal" school but these online classes make it possible to connect - no matter where you are in the world!
There are several types of classes available, including self-paced courses, instructor-led courses, and live streaming classes. Self-paced courses allow students to work through the course material at their own pace, while instructor-led courses provide more structured lessons and feedback. Live streaming classes offer real-time instruction and feedback from instructors, as well as the opportunity to ask questions and interact with other students.
Some of the benefits of these classes include the flexibility to learn at your own pace and on your own schedule, access to expert instruction and feedback, and the ability to connect with a global community of artists.
In my eyes another big advantage is that you don't have to be "somewhere" at a specific time. With work and family commitments we might not always have the time to fully dive into a class therefore it's nice to jump in whenever I have some minutes. That might be in my lunch break or right bevor I fall asleep, it doesn't matter.
How do Online Art Classes Work?
The structure and format can vary depending on the course and platform. However, most online art classes offer a mix of instructional videos, written materials, and assignments. Some courses also include live webinars, group critiques, and Q&A sessions.
Common features and tools include - like in any classroom, online or off - a discussion forum, where students can ask questions and interact with each other, a learning management system (LMS), where course materials are housed, and video conferencing software, which is used for live sessions with instructors.
Instructor and student interaction in online classes can take many forms, including email, chat, discussion forums, and live video sessions. Some courses also offer one-on-one critiques or coaching sessions with instructors.
Sometimes you might need a lot of support and sometimes less. So it always depends. Because of that I believe to "be there when you need me" which means that I'm in the course area of the Safari Lounge Designer Classes every day and jump right in when you have a question. You can also always contact me by email.
What can you learn in Online Art Classes?
My art classes here at Digidesignresort cover a wide range of topics and mediums, including drawing, painting, digital art, illustration, graphic design, and more. They are designed in a ways that can use them to build a business or "just" have fun or learn more about the topic chosen. Some courses are designed for beginners, while others are geared towards more experienced artists but they all come together in the Safari Lounge Designer Classes where you can pick one class and go through it - just to your liking!
Levels of difficulty and prerequisites vary depending on the course, but most classes are designed to be accessible to a wide range of skill levels.
As a member of the Safari Lounge Designer Classes you are welcome no matter if you are a beginner who wants to learn drawing and designing for fun or for business. You can learn how to draw on your iPad and then start to create products from it. Sure you can sell those products online, on your own website or on Etsy as well as in different online stores,
How to choose the right Class for you
Before enrolling in an online art class, it's important to consider a few factors to ensure that the course is a good fit for your needs and goals. Some things to consider include your skill level, your interests, your budget, and your schedule.
Ultimately, the best online art class for you will depend on your personal preferences and goals. Consider what you want to achieve through the course. For example, the Safari Lounge Designer Classes suit you best if you want an instructor who is "always around" and not available for specific period, e.g. a few weeks or months when the class started. Additionally, you are at the right place if you enjoy working through the material at your own pace and learn something new each month. Each new class also gives the Safari Lounge more value and you more inspiration what you want and can do with your new knowledge.
Tips for succeeding
To get the most out of your online art class experience, it's important to stay motivated, organized, and focused. Some tips for success include setting clear goals and objectives, creating a study schedule, staying organised, and taking advantage of feedback and critique from me and other students. After all we want to succeed together and make this the best experience for each of us!
It's also important to stay engaged and participate actively in the course. This can include asking questions, sharing your work with others, and providing feedback to fellow students.
Another key to success in online art classes is to practice regularly and dedicate time to honing your skills and techniques. It's important to stay patient and persistent, and to remember that developing as an artist takes time and effort.
Conclusion
Online art classes are a valuable resource for artists of all skill levels, providing a convenient and accessible way to learn new techniques, connect with other artists, and gain feedback and critique from the instructor and fellow members.
By choosing the right course and platform, staying motivated and focused, and dedicating time to practice and improve your skills, you can make the most of your online art class experience and take your artistic abilities to the next level.
