When I was a child I lived most of the time at my grandparent's house. That was just because my mum worked long hours and it was more practical for all of us. And when I slept there it was usually my grandma who got up with me in the morning. And when I came upstairs there was a bowl of cereals on the table just next to a cocoa. It was always the same. I hated it the older I got because I always had the same breakfast. And for school I had the same sandwich. Again, I hated it and got a cake or whatever I could at my school from the money my grandma gave me additionally.
I say I hated it and today I would give everything to have it back. Have my grandma back, see her sitting in front of me on our kitchen table and having always the same cereals and cocoa.
Nope, she didn't add a lunch box note (actually, that's nothing you find in Germany doing anyone) but I knew that her sandwich and also the always-the-same breakfast was filled with love.
Because: She got up every morning. Because she bought the cereals for me. Because she mixed the cocoa. Because... you name it.
