I swear it's not just your home (with kiddos) that is full of screen-time - ours is, too! Except the cats my husband and I are happily starring at our mobile screens. I know, we shouldn't do that too much but there is always THAT ONE THING you need to check, google, etc. ... But we want to be better. We already turned Thursday into a "Nix-Night" (which is my word for nothing-but-a-book-on-the-sofa-night) and whenever the clock turns 8 pm the mobiles are put somewhere far away from us. At least that's my hope how we can relax better and enjoy more time off.
Are you also looking for screen-free, low-prep activities to spark creativity in your home? Maybe something you can easily pull out at night and have a fun crafty hour (or two)? Whether you print your own craft supplies or grab a ready-to-use cut-out book like our Rainforest: Cut Out and Collage Book, paper crafting is a fun, affordable way to engage kids, unwind, and create something beautiful together. Besides that it always gives chances to learn something new!
In this post, I’m sharing 10 easy cut-out craft ideas you can do with materials from the Pepper Printable Club or straight from our physical Amazon KDP books—perfect for beginners, families, or homeschool fun!
10 Easy Crafts with Cut-Out Papers
1. Rainforest Animal Puppets
Print or cut out animals from our rainforest collection, glue them to popsicle sticks, and host your own jungle puppet show!
Find out together with your little one what kind of animals you cut out and maybe learn a bit more about these animals. What do they eat? How do they live? And where? Then your puppet show might be much more interesting!
No printer? No problem! Use our printed Rainforest Craft Book — just cut and glue!

2. Jungle Scene Collage
Create a vibrant rainforest scene on construction paper with trees, leaves, animals, and flowers from your cut-outs. Great for storytelling or school projects. You could give your kids a few words when they create their scene and invent a story with them. Or you could have them tell you a story once they have finished their paper.
3. DIY Alphabet Flash Cards
Use the included jungle-themed alphabet to create flashcards. Cut and glue onto small index cards, and laminate if you like! You cannot just create that game together but reuse it over and over again!
4. Tropical Vision Boards
Encourage kids to dream! Use flowers, animals, and tropical quotes to build a mini vision board together on one of the included papers.
5. Rainforest-Themed Birthday Cards
Cut out your favorite elements and turn them into handmade birthday cards or party invitations. It’s thoughtful and fun! With a little 3D foam pad you can easily turn your cards into 3D Cards.
6. Mini Storybooks
Fold a few sheets of paper into a booklet and use cut-outs to build characters and settings. Kids can write their own jungle tales.
7. Junk Journal Inserts
Cut out leaves, animals, and tags to add to junk journals. Add washi tape, quotes, and stickers to customize each page. I know, it's not the normal junk journal in vintage style. But hey, who said that everything needs to be "normal"?
8. DIY Wall Art
Frame your favorite cut-out scenes! Perfect for decorating playrooms, classrooms, or your homeschool nook.
9. Interactive Learning Boards
Create a rainforest facts board with cut-outs. Add labels like "toucan," "tropical leaf," or "monkey" for hands-on learning.
10. Crafty Countdown Calendar
Glue cut-outs onto mini envelopes and turn them into a countdown calendar—counting down to birthdays, holidays, or a fun vacation! Maybe each envelope holds a nice coupon - like: Today we watch a movie together or: I got an ice cream for you. It doesn't have to be big. Spend time with your loved one.
Want to Craft Without a Printer?
Not everyone wants to print at home (or has the time!). That’s why we created the Rainforest: Cut Out and Collage Book—filled with beautiful, realistic rainforest elements, background papers, and even an alphabet. The pages are duplicated three times so you do not only have enough letters and numbers but also plenty animals, leaves and flowers (to name just a few!).
Just grab a pair of scissors and you’re ready to go!
