  • 06:27 Preserving the Memories
  • 07:07 Add Some More Decorations

You don't need a lot of materials for your Double Page Scrapbook Layout. Here's what you need.

Get your Photos and Elements Ready

Before you start adding pieces of washi tape, choose which photos you want to preserve. It does not matter how you arrange them. What's important here is the memories and stories that you want to preserve with those photos.

Creating Interactive Elements

Get your washi tape and tape one side of a photo in your scrapbook page. I use a black washi tape because I think it matches the other elements. But you can use any colour of tape you want, of course.

After taping the side of your photo, cut it a bit so it is easier to flip.

Because this is an interactive photo where you can flip it, you can glue another photo under it. Just make sure it is a little smaller in size.

Glue some elements to decorate your photo and your page.

After that, do the same to the other photo. Add a piece of washi tape and glue your decorations.

Preserving the Memories

Use the element that is included in the kit, write down some stories about your photos. You can write when and where the photo was taken. And feel free to write anything you want to remember about your photos so you will not forget those memories as years pass by.

Glue the "story" maybe under your interactive photo.

Add Some More Decorations

There are many elements in our It's a Boy's World scrapbooking kit that you can choose from. Just add whatever you feel matches your photos.

Add elements to your scrapbook page so that the overall visual composition of your two pages is balanced.

That's it, your layout is done!

You now have an interactive elements in your scrapbook page. Because you can flip your picture, you can hide another picture under it. Isn't it cool?

Double-Page Scrapbook Layout

Double-Page Scrapbook Layout

There really isn’t any fast and hard rule on a digital scrapbook’s page layout. Definitely, it all depends on the user’s choice which is most often than not takes into consideration one’s purpose, use or printing ability.

Double-Page Scrapbook Layout

A single page layout is more commonly used especially for beginners who have no idea how to lay down a master page for a double-page spread. Well, creating a double-page scrapbook layout is not too complex as it may look. Just follow these steps on how to do it using Adobe Photoshop CS5:

Open Adobe Photoshop.

Go to File > New

You can increase each image by clicking on it so you can easily see all settings used.

Give your file a name so that you can save it to be your double-page layout template.

Decide on what size of page you’d want. If you wish for the page to fit printing into a legal size (8.5″ x 14″) or A4 (8.27″ x 11.69″) paper, you can choose a smaller size like 10″ x 5″ or 11″ x 8″. But really, it all depends on your preference. For our demo we’ll be creating a spread that should look like an open Compact Disk (CD) Sleeve, in that case we’ll adopt the 12″ x 6″ size.

Set the parameters for the template: width, height, resolution and colour contents. We selected Transparent for the purpose of versatility.
Double-Page Scrapbook Layout
Since this is a two-page layout, we need to put an imaginary line to divide the pages. That way, you can be sure that both sides have equal size in terms of working area and you will not have any difficulty later on if and when you decide to fold or cut it in half after printing.

This line is called a “Guide” and you can easily add it by going to View > New Guide

We will position the guide as a vertical line in the middle of our spread which is at 6″.

See that teal colored line? You won’t be seeing that line if you print your project so you need not take it out before printing.

Now that we have a double-page spread, we’ll show you how to arrange your elements and designs for the pages.

Consider the left and right as two separate pages such that you can place two totally different background on each side.

We’re using pages and elements from Aqua Mist Scrapbooking Kit by Mistica Designs for this example. If you liked it, you can pay a visit to digidesignresort shop and see for yourself hundreds of scrapbooking kits that you’ll love to use for your future projects.

Design your pages but make sure that you avoid getting too close into the edges like the one on the right side so that they will not have any cut-up portions when printed.

When you’re done, save the document first in .psd format so that you can still use the template for future projects.

You may now prepare the pages for printing by flattening the layers. Go to Layer > Flatten

Did you notice how all the layers are merged into one background layer?

Printing Options:
1. You can save the file in .jpeg or format and have it printed “as is” with the two pages side by side as long as it would fit your paper size. For this particular template, a legal size paper will suffice.

2. Or you can print each side one by one. To do this, you need to crop the other half as in like this:

After the other side, don’t forget to undo crop so that you’ll still have the full double page spread intact.

Enjoy your double page template!
