Is Scrapbooking a dying hobby?

Definitely, not.

Scrapbooking is not dying, but rather transforming into a more interesting version - hybrid scrapbooking. You now might ask yourself: What is Hybrid Scrapbooking?

Something Else has Taken Over

These days, instead of going to craft stores to buy tons of pretty papers and embellishments (and let's be honest, once we are there, we do, don't we?) for our scraps, we can now easily download and print our scrapbooking supplies at home. Of course, you still pay for your papers and elements but it is much cheaper because you just need to buy them once and you can use them forever.

Some people no longer want to buy items which they might not need. If you have a digital kit you don't need right away - no problem, just add it to your stash and pull it out and print whenever you feel like using it!

Hybrid Over Traditional Scrapbooking

The traditional way of scrapbooking is where you print your selected photos and cut them into the desired shape and sizes, and stick them to your store-bought scrapbooking papers or album.

If you make a mistake, it's either you print the photos again or change your paper. That is the downside of traditional scrapbooking. It can get expensive, especially when you buy sets of embellishments to decorate your project. Oftentimes, storing your scrapbooking materials is also a big deal.

While hybrid scrapbooking, compared to the traditional way, is convenient and less expensive.

You can easily print out papers and embellishments to design your scraps with these. If you need the same paper twice - no problem, just print it again. Don't worry about making mistakes either - when doing your scraps, a mistake can be fixed in no time and with just some ink.

Also, you don't have to be techy to create beautiful scrapbooks. Often the designers prepare their scrapbook sets so you really just have to print and start crafting. You do not even need a graphic program, often you can open a paper or a sheet of embellishments just with a double click and then print it.

Of course, you still shed some money to pay for your digital supplies, but actually, you can save more because you can directly use them for your photo books and journals and you can print them anytime you need them.
